Not All Architecture is a local collaborative architecture practice based in Anglesea on the Surf Coast. We work as residential and commercial architects, celebrating ideas of many minds to develop considered design solutions for meaningful, sustainable buildings.
Hands-on construction experience from full house builds,
landscaping, interiors and building furniture gives us an understanding of putting things together. We work with talented craftsmen and builders that we have developed relationships from many years of living on the Surf Coast.

Not All Architecture are Passiv Haus Certified Designers and a member of Australian Architects Declare group, Surf Coast Energy Group and Institute of Architects in pursuit of actioning change to enhance connection and care of our communities and natural environment.
We follow an iterative design process for every project that is both conceptual and practical to give the best available outcome within the means and scope of a project. Knowing that investing time and research into the design process creates long-term value to our clients.
We believe in energy descent philosophy and advocate for a down scaling of our collective carbon footprint at a household level - not just green technology. We implement this through studies of scale, landscape and material compositions.
Our focus is on design driven by the climatic and cultural context of Australia.
Environmental responsibility is fundamental throughout our work, along with a commitment to creating spaces that are a pleasure to experience.
We acknowledge the Wadawurrung People and the Gadubanud of the Maar People as the Traditional Custodians of the land upon which we live. We pay our respects to their Elders, past and present.
Services
Design & Documentation
Concept design, schematic design, and construction documentation tailored to site, climate, and brief. Every project is developed with architectural intent, local knowledge of the area and performance principles at its core, not applied as an afterthought.
Town Planning
Coastal and regional sites rarely come with a straight forward planning path. Significant Landscape Overlays, Environmental Significance Overlays, and Neighbourhood Character controls are common across our region. We prepare planning applications, respond to Council and authority requirements with knowledge of these complexities. Our approach has a record of all projects achieving Town Planning approval and no objections to date.
Bushfire Planning
Much of the Surf Coast and regional victoria sits within designated bushfire-prone areas. We manage Bushfire Attack Level (BAL) and design construction detailing that meets AS 3959 requirements without compromising the architectural outcome of the building.
Complex & Constrained Sites
Steep topography, tight coastal allotments, exposed or environmentally sensitive land. We bring the technical knowledge to resolve access, drainage, structure, overlay constraints, and design sensibility to respond to a difficult site.
Contract Administration
Contract administration through to completion, ensuring the building delivered matches the architectural intent.
